Attorney and former FBI profiler Molly Amman, JD, CTM, is an internationally recognized expert in threat assessment and management. Prior to retiring from FBI service in 2020, Ms. Amman worked in the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) in Quantico, Virginia, as a targeted violence profiler; she served as program manager for the multiagency Behavioral Threat Assessment Center, which spearheads the FBI’s efforts in targeted violence assessment and management. Her case work at the BAU principally focused on public figure threats, school and workplace violence issues, domestic terrorism, threatening communications, assessing persons of concern for active shooter and other types of planned attacks, stalking and extortion, active crisis incidents such as riots and hostage scenarios, and more; she has extensive experience with both ideologically-motivated and personal grievance-oriented offenders.
Ms. Amman has also served on faculty at the FBI Academy, led a field Joint Terrorism Task Force, and coordinated assets for crisis response & management, intelligence, and federal investigations during major special events such as Presidential inaugurations and professional sports championships, at the FBI Special Events Management Unit.
Ms. Amman has collaborated extensively with law enforcement and public safety partners both at home and abroad, intelligence agencies, professional organizations, members of academia, and private sector partners, in assessing threats of violence posed by individuals and groups. She has conducted training around the world and has authored numerous publications on topics related to threats, targeted violence, and law. Ms. Amman completed several long-term overseas deployments to further US and allied threat mitigation and anti-radicalization efforts. She was nominated and a finalist for the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medal for her work on a significant crisis.
Ms. Amman is now engaged in private practice, focusing largely on threatening communications, workplace violence, public figure threats, and domestic extremism.
